"When Doves Cry: A True Story" {Pt. 4/4}

“Yeah, I been on my own long before we were married…I’m a big girl, I got it!” I said sitting up and opening my eyes…

“I love you,” he said and he leaned forward to kiss me.

“Love you too I said,” leaning in for the kiss but not really kissing him back. As my husband closed the door behind him, I felt my stomach go in knots. The garage door buzzed open and his car pulled out. My head began to bang…I reached for a bottle of Excedrin Migraine, a bottle of Cabernet, and turned on the radio…Prince was crooning one of my favorite jams:

“How can YOU just leave me standing….alone in a world that’s so cold…Maybe I’m just too demanding…Maybe I’m just like my father, too bold….Maybe Im just like my mother…She’s never satisfied. Why do we scream at each other? This is what it sounds like When Doves Cry…..”

As tears began to fall again, I gulped half the bottle of Cabernet….downed three Excedrin…and took my ass to sleep…shit ain’t NEVER been right since then:
